“We opened the game strong with a 75=yard strike from Korvin Bradley to Jimmy Fabus. We went into half down 14-8 with them putting together a couple of long drives. We came out in the 3rd quarter and got a safety on a nice play from Cole Keller to make it 14-10 with 4:02 to go in the 3rd. That’s when the lightning came in and we postponed to Saturday.
“We started with the free kick and got the ball down to the 14 yard line but couldn’t punch it in. We then stopped them on their possession, got the ball back on our own 13 yard line and the F.I.A. player made a nice play to tip Korvin’s pass and interceptex it down to the 2-yard line where they punched it in 2 plays later. We stopped their 2 point try keeping it 20-10. Our next drive we got down to their 30 but couldn’t get any further. With 4:55 left to play, they complete a 3rd and 25 and i thought it was over. In the next 3 plays we use all our timeouts and on 4th down Jimmy Fabus strips the ball from the QB and takes it 51 yards to the house. We convert the 2 point try to make it 20-18.
“We recover the onside to keep us alive with just under 3 minutes to play, we make it to the 11 yard line and throw an interception that is taken back 95 yards for the TD. (6 inches higher and it goes over their LB and into Dillon Beebe’s wide open arms.) Needing to stop the 2 point conversion to stay in it, Korvin Bradley busts through the line to drop the back for a 3 yard loss. We get the ball back with just over 2 minutes to play, get a huge 3rd and 17 pass from Bradley to Beebe completed, then 15 more yards on the next play when we spiked the ball and they hit my QB.
“We find Jimmy Fabus in the end zone for a 23 yard TD but get it called back for illegal procedure. Two more unsuccessful passes and we come up a little short.
“This game showed me that when we play hard and through the adversity that we can play with anyone. A couple plays, a couple penalties, a couple turnovers, and a couple of better calls on my part and we win this game. Very proud of my team, they have huge hearts, my whole backfield is playing with one injury or another and they fought through and nearly pulled out a tough victory with tough circumstances, it’s never easy to get up for a game in back to back days.”
