The Lowell wrestling team made the statement that it is more than ready to add a sixth-straight team state title to the trophy case with a dominating effort at the Division 2 individual district it hosted.
A total of 11 Red Arrows won individual championships with three Lowell wrestlers taking second place in what was nearly a perfect day for the 14 wrestlers at the meet.
Junior Austin Boone, a two-time state champion, began his quest for a third individual state title as he ran his record to 23-4 for the season enroute to winning the 152-pound title.
Senior Avry Mutschler upped his record to 27-2 for the year as he won the 140-pound crown. Fellow senior Jeff Leach won the 135-pound title.
Along with Boone, Lowell’s junior class included championships from Dawson Jankowski (130 pounds), James Fotis (145), Jacob Hough (215) and Tyler Delooff (285).
Sophomores winning district titles for Lowell included Zeth Strejc (125) who improved to 25-6, Jacob Lee (160) and Derek Mohr (171). Freshman Ramsy Mutschler won the 103-pound title.
Placing second for Lowell were Nicholas Korhorn (112), William Link (135) and Doak Dean (145).
