Freeland hosted CHip Hills in the first round of the playoffs Friday night. The Falcons would start on defense and force a punt after just six plays for seven yards. A false start penalty was called on Freeland’s first play and that would be their m/o for the night.
A 3 and out for the Warriors on their next possession and 15 yard punt return by Jaden DeBeau would give Freeland the ball on the 15 yard line. On the first play Carston Yaw would use his speed around the edge and give the Falcons their first touchdown of the night. Jack Townsend caught the 2pt conversion from freshmen QB Bryson Huckeby and the Freeland had an 8-0 lead with 4:30 to go in the first.
Chip Hills would be forced to punt again after a 3 and out, but the Falcons fumbled the punt return giving the Warriors the ball on Freeland’s 32 yard line. Once again the Warriors went 3 and out and the Falcons took over on their own 19. Freeland would go 64 yards in 7 plays, but a great defensive play by the Warriors would cause a fumble and another stalled drive for the Falcons.
In the 2nd quarter the Warriors took just 7 plays to go the length of the field thanks to a 64 yard screen pass. The failed 2pt conversion gave the Falcons an 8-6 lead with 7:21 to go in the half. Freeland had two more drive stall out inside the Warriors 30 yard line before going into half with an 8-6 lead.
In the 3rd quarter Carston Yaw took the opeing kickoff back to the 50 yard line and 5 plays later Jack Dreyer took a handoff off the left side and raced 26 yards to the endzone. Adian West punched in the 2pt run and with 10:20 to go in the 3rd the Faclons were up 16-6.
Between the 3rd and 4th quarter Jayce Bourcier would have interception for the Falcons and the Falcons would have 13 penalties for 110. Every time the Falcons would get a drive going, they would go the opposite direction.
