Alex Fries, Saginaw Swan Valley quarterback, has been named High School Sports Scene’s Offensive Player of the Week. Fries was 13-of-22 in passing for 272 yards and five touchdowns in a 56-20 Swan Valley win over Frankenmuth on Thursday. Fries also had a rushing touchdown. 

 

HONORABLE MENTION

Sophomore quarterback Brady Hessbrook was 12-of-15 for 262 passing yards and one TD for Ithaca, which defeated Hemlock 44-10 on Friday to extend its TVC West winning streak to 57 straight games. He had 17 carries for 94 yards and 2 TDs.

 Kurt Gay, Dansville football: He rushed for 184 yards in 33-0 win over Laingsburg.

Josh Kramer, Lansing Catholic football. He ended up with 149 yards rushing and two scores in a win over defending state champion Grand Rapids West Catholic. He was 15-of-18 for 117 yards in passing. He had seven tackles. He has scored seven TDs this year (4 rushing, 2 passing and a 76-yard pass interception TD). 

Jacob Veale, Portland, football, he had 18 carries for 144 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-0 win over Corunna.

Tate Dziewiatkowski. Portland soccer, This year he leads the team with 14 goals and 2 assists. He has also been All State Honorable mention the last two years and has made the CAAC White All Conference team the last three years.

Heath Flower, Olivet high school, he had strep throat during the week and finished with a game high 24 carries for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 43-35 win over Hopkins High School.

Chris Zruna, Ovid-Elsie boys soccer, three goals vs. Byron; two goals, one assist vs. Mount Morris.
