Alma’s softball team entered the later stages of May with a 9-5 record under coach Phillip Block

Hailey Leister leads the team with home runs and has a .366 batting average. She also has 58 strikeouts as a pitcher.

Kemmie Shunk has attempted 23 steals and succeeded 21 times. She also has hit three home runs while hitting .357.

Aaliyah Wilson tops the team with 23 RBIs, and is hitting .300. He has two home runs to her credit.

Pitcher Amanda Efaw tops the team in strikeouts with 107 and is also hitting .308

Dannielle Shaw has a .376 batting average. She has also struck out 63 batters while pitching.

Track

Alma was sixth for the girls and eighth for the boys in the Division 2 regionals on May 19 at Chippewa Hills.

Madison Doolittle won the 100 meter hurdles in 16.45 seconds. Tayla Guerrero was third in the 100-meter dash in 12.96 seconds. The 800 relay team of Doolittle, Mariah Castillo, Anna Johnston and Guerrero was third in 1:51.38. The 400 relay foursome of Doolittle, Madison Shaffer, Johnston and Guerrero was second in 52.23 seconds. Paige Seeley was third in the 800-meter run (2:29.24). Guerrero was third in the 200 dash (27.15). Ezra Faust was first in the pole vault at 12-10. In the discus, Ryan Cornejo was second (140-8) and Greg Simmons third (134-10). Simmons was second in 46-8 ½ in the shot put.
