Teams on the Rise

The Saginaw Arthur Hill File

The Lowdown: Since enduring two early-season losses to Detroit Western International and Muskegon, the Saginaw Arthur Hill boys basketball team is hitting its mid-season stride and defeating teams convincingly. Since Dec. 20, the Lumberjacks are on a six-game winning streak in which they have defeated teams by average of 33 points a game.

Eric Davis, who has committed to the University of Texas, continues to shine. He had one of his best games of the season in a victory over Heritage. In that game, Davis scored 29, his second-highest point total of the season, and had eight rebounds, six steals, and five assists, continuing his push toward the Mr. Basketball title.

The Lumberjacks have a matchup with Saginaw High Jan. 27. A win could give Arthur Hill a stranglehold on the Saginaw Valley North Division.

The Lowdown: The Cardinals are 10-0 at the halfway point of the season, which includes a huge 49-39 victory over Ithaca. They have a tough task during TVC crossovers, when they have to play both Millington and Alma.

The Cardinals have size in Andrew Schroeder, who mans the post. They are undefeated, thanks to guards Nate Lindloff and Casey Williams.
