Hey Sports Fans. It’s going to be another great year at Sports Scene!
We are kicking off our sixth year bringing you the best high school coverage in Michigan. It’s crazy that it has already been that long! We’ve gone from our first cover, featuring former Ovid-Elsie standout Chris Robinson, to this month’s cover, which showcases three of the most talented individuals Sports Scene has ever written of. Swan Valley’s Alex Grace, Heritage’s Brian Cole, and DeWitt’s Jake Johnson are three players who are all moving on to the next level, with Cole being considered by most as the No. 1 recruit in the state.
That’s big time right there. Great athletes hoping to bring home the ultimate prize for any football player – a state championship.
Good things have been going on at Ithaca during the off-season. The Yellowjackets signed a three-year agreement with Adidas, the culmination of hard work and dedication from the entire athletic department at my alma mater.
Don’t forget the 56-game winning streak we have been hearing about since Ithaca won its fourth straight Division 6 state championship last year. It’s the longest winning streak in the country. The team has gone four years with no losses, has put together two heroic comebacks, and has made a lifetime’s worth of memories. I am proud to call myself a former Yellowjacket.
Take a moment when you hit that field for the first time at the first game to take in the sounds and embrace them. There is nothing better than Friday Night Lights. Enjoy.
