Rockford snuck past Hudsonville 30-29 Thursday night in O-K Red Conference wrestling action.
Jared Bennet of Rockford, won 7-5 in triple overtime in the 119-pound class against Brad Stubblefield in the final match of the night for a 30-29 Rams’ victory.
Rockford was up 27-26 going into the final two matches at 112 and 119.
Rockford’s Braden Zych recorded the first pin of the night at 145 pounds in 4:16 over Josh Prince, which gave the Rams a 16-4 lead. The Rams started out with a 7-0 lead. Stephen Jendritz netted a major decision 15-3 at 125 pounds over Ethan Schutter and Rockford’s Terry Gant had a 4-0 win at 130.
The Rams won at 140 with Gage Radaz getting an 8-5 win. Brandon Zych at 145 got a pin in 4:16.
Chris Bell netted three more Rockford points at 160 with a 5-3 win over Austin Prentice after getting the takedown 30 seconds into overtime.
The Rams led 22-14 after the 189-pound class with Caleb Childers getting an 8-6 decision.
Rockford added five more points at 215 on Brandon Houle’s technical fall.
Rockford is now 11-3 overall.
