Freeland’s girls basketball team got off to a quick start and held back Alma Tuesday night in a 61-49 victory. Freeland was up 13-9 after the first quarter, 27-16 at halftime and 45-30 after the third quarter. Freeland is 3-1.
Breanna Short scored 19 points and had seven shot blocks for Freeland while Taryn Taugher had 18 points and four assists, Sofia Guterrez had 10 points and Hannah Foy scored nine points and added four assists. For rebounds, Short had 10, Taugher eight and Foy four.
