Saginaw Valley Lutheran held back Michigan Lutheran Seminary 75-72 in boys basketball action on Tuesday. Valley Lutheran was up 14-12 after the first quarter, 36-27 at halftime and 50-45 after the third quarter. Seminary had a 27-25 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes but it was not enough.
Rylan Appold scored 25 points, and Josh Appold added 16 points. Nick Howard scored 17 points and Derrick Yurgens had nine points for Valley Lutheran.
Rylan Appold also had six rebounds while Jonny Engelhardt added four boards. Josh Appold and Mike Weiss had three steals apiece. Josh Appold also blocked two shots.
