Zeeland West had too much firepower in defeating Mount Pleasant 62-27 Saturday at Mount Pleasant in Division 3 playoff action. Zeeland, 11-1, advances to the state semifinals this week while Mount Pleasant ends its season at 10-2. Mount Pleasant trailed only 18-13 after the first quarter and led 20-18 at halftime. But Zeeland West scored 22 points in each the third and fourth quarter while holding the Oilers to seven points in the third quarter.

Michael Tweh had touchdown runs of 1 and 61 yards while Robert Backus threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Kalebb Perry. Mitch Ridley had two PATs for the Oilers. Backus was 9-of-26 in passing for 151 yards and 34.6 percent completion efficiency. He passed for three touchdowns and had two interceptions. Perry was 0-of-5 in passing. He caught five passes for 113 yards. Tweh rushed 18 times for 191 yards.
