Wayland Union is in the playoffs with a 5-4 record and hopes to surprise a few teams in Division 3, starting with Plainwell on Friday. Plainwell, 8-1, hosts Wayland Union which did not automatically qualify for the playoffs but got enough points, with a 5-4 record to make it. They can keep playing if they beat Plainwell. The winner of the Wayland-Plainwell game takes on Byron Center or Battle Creek Harper Creek next week in the district finals.
There are three teams in the regional with 5-4 records including Wayland, Sturgis and Coldwater. The regional title game is Nov. 15 or 16.
