Shepherd finally got that elusive first win of the season in a hard-fought 30-25 victory over Alma Saturday night. Shepherd fired out to a 12-0 lead after the first quarter and 18-7 at halftime. It was 24-13 after three periods.
Brandon Stressman had scoring runs of 2, 1 and 28 yards to give his team a three touchdown lead in the second quarter. Tristin Foster had a 26-yard run and Stressman a 43-yard scamper in the fourth quarter for the Blue Jays.
Stressman wound up with 246 yards on 40 carries for 6.2 per carry. Foster had 27 yards on two attempts.
Both teams are now 1-7.
Shepherd will play undefeated Ithaca on Friday.
