The Michigan Wrestling Association is proud to announce that Fowlerville senior Adam Coon is the winner of the 2013 MWA Mr. Wrestler Award. Coon became the 17th four-time state champion in Michigan history and boasted a career record of 211-3. He finished his high school career on a 194-match win streak and pinned every opponent he faced in his senior season. Currently, Coon is ranked No. 1 in most national polls at 285 pounds.
Coon made his mark on the national and world scene by winning national titles in freestyle and Greco Roman in 2010. In 2011, after winning another freestyle national championship, he went on to win the FILA Cadet Freestyle Pan American Championship and followed that up by winning a FILA Cadet Freestyle World Championship. Last season, Coon won the prestigious USA Wrestling Triple Crown by earning titles in folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco in the same calendar year.
Adam is a three-sport star at Fowlerville High School, where he earned all-state honors in football, wrestling, and track on multiple occasions. While in high school, he earned a 4.011 GPA and recorded a 28 on his ACT. Coon will take his talents to the University of Michigan where he will wrestle for Coach Joe McFarland and study Aerospace Engineering.
