The Owosso wrestling team has turned in some strong efforts this season as it drives toward to team districts that start next month.

One of the big highlights of the season was a second-place finish at the Owosso Invitational. The Trojans had three wrestlers finish with perfect 5-0 records at the invite including senior Cody Chase (112 pounds), senior Alex Smith (140) and senior Ian Johnson (215) while sophomore Tristen Nevadomski (145) went 4-1.

Owosso also won the Montrose Invitational as it went a perfect 5-0 on the day at the team tournament. Owosso clinched the win with a tight 37-36 win over Freeland. 

Owosso also finished second place at the Oiler Invitational at Mt. Pleasant this season as it went 4-1 with the lone loss coming against Swan Valley.

Owosso also turned in a strong effort against nationally-ranked St. Johns in a CAAC league match. St. Johns defeated Owosso 50-28. Among the Trojan wrestlers earning wins were Keegan Gute, Jackie Lin, Nic Bignell, Johnson and Chase.

Owosso hosts a Division 2 team district this season on Feb. 7. St. Johns and Corunna will be competing for the district title along with the Trojans.
