The Grand Ledge girl’s cross country team is headed to the Division 1 state finals at Michigan International Speedway this weekend thanks to a big effort at the Division 1 regional at Portage.
The Comets took second place at the regional with 55 points. Hudsonville won the regional with 43 while Caledonia was third with 60.
Junior Krista Magness led the way for Grand Ledge as she finished seventh overall with a time of 19:21.8. Alex Berends of Hudsonville was the overall individual winner with a time of 18:43.7.
Sophomore Taryn Hubaker finished eighth overall for the Comets in a time of 19:31.8 while senior Allison Dible was ninth in 19:35.4. Senior Christy Snelgrove placed 15th overall ion 20:07.0 while sophomore Olivia Conway placed 16th in a time of 20:12.2.
