Led by a large and talented senior class, the Freeland Falcons made school history by winning the Division 2 boys basketball state championship.
The Falcons defeated a familiar foe in the title game with a 42-32 win against Hudsonville Unity Christian. Freeland defeated Unity Christian in February in a showdown of state powers in a game that provided a preview of the finals.
Freeland was paced this season and in the state tournament by its 12-man senior class. Those seniors helped to propel Freeland to a state title and a final record of 26-3.
Senior Tristan Comer turned in a double-double in the title game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow senior Wilson Huckeby added 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals in the win.
