It’s the same championship-type of season for Rockford’s girls basketball team.
Coach Brad Wilson’s Rams are 18-1 overall and 9-0 in the conference and have a No. 1 Michigan High School Athletic Association MPR ranking as of late in the season.
Wilson has been coaching nine years. For Rockford his record the past five years is 118-9 with four straight OK Red Conference titles; six straight District titles; four straight regional titles, four champions in 2023
The expectations are to play at a championship caliber standard every day,” Wilson said. “We play hard, play together, and always have our ‘Horns Up.’ With a team filled with seven seniors, the veteran leadership is second to none. The goal is to get back to the final four for the fifth year in a row and bring the championship back to Rockford. We have all of our goals in front of us. The team is playing at a very high level, and we believe we have prepared and trained to a championship level.
“We are undefeated at home, always the goal to defend the Rock, and going undefeated in the OK Red to this point. We lost an early season game on the road at Muskegon. I believe we grew more from that than any win we have had, and it has propelled us to another level of play.
Top players have been:
Sienna Wolfe: Senior. Committed to Wofford University. 16 PPG
Addison Wypych, Sophomore. 15 PPG, several D1 Offers.
Kate Higgins: Senior. Committed to Northwood, Leads the team in rebounds, close to the all-time record at Rockford.
Audrey Muterspaugh: Senior. Leads the team in both steals and assists. Teams heart and soul. Energy bug.
Jordan Mateer: Senior sharp shooter, committed to Calvin.
“We have seven returnees next year, headlined by Addison Wypych, top point guard in the state. Our JV is undefeated, a ton of young and eager kids ready to take advantage of the opportunity to play,” Wilson said.
